FAQ- Internal use

Rest assured…common concerns addressed

CBD Tinctures

Our family friendly tinctures are a highly effective and tasty way to get your daily CBD. Made with high quality CBD Isolate- pure hemp-derived CBD with no other cannabinoids, terpenes, or flavonoids and no detectable THC. Comes in delicious natural flavors in antioxidant rich grapeseed oil.

Herb ‘N Oil’s CBD tinctures are NOT psychoactive (won’t get you high).

The effects are calming, but not sedating (although higher doses may help with insomnia).

One of the things that differentiates our (isolate based) CBD tinctures from others that are full and broad spectrum, is that you don’t have to worry about passing a drug test. Many of our customers are doctors, nurses, service members and in other professions where they get drug tested frequently. Lab tests are available upon request and on the website.

Are there medication interactions and/or side effects I should be concerned with?

CBD can alter the way your body processes certain medications such as pharmaceuticals that interact with the cytochrome P450 pathway. If your med says to “avoid grapefruit juice, St John’s Wort, Watercress or Goldenseal” or if you are unsure if your medication is metabolized by the CYP450 system, talk to your dr.

Besides medication interactions, possible side effects could potentially include dry mouth, fatigue & drowsiness (at higher doses). To mitigate these side effects, break up your dosage throughout the day (microdosing) in order to obtain optimal energy levels at higher doses.

CBD is non addictive.

In fact, US researchers are currently studying the use of CBD to combat opioid addiction since it has had staggering success in helping treat nicotine addiction and heroin addiction in other countries.

There are 3 main reasons people love using CBD Oil Tinctures.
  1. The dosage is highly customizable. It is customary to use 1 ml/day, but the amount of CBD per milliliter can vary based on the total CBD content of the bottle.
  2. It is easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Although they can be added to food or drinks, it is more effective when placed under the tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing- which boasts a 35-45% bioavailability as compared to 6-9% bioavailability when taken as a food or drink. This difference is due to bypassing the digestive system when it is held under the tongue and absorbed through the mucous membranes, thus entering the bloodstream more quickly. Due to this…
  3. When used sublingually, tinctures act and “kick-in” more rapidly than capsules & edibles. Usually it only takes 10-20 min to take effect and studies show that when taken within 30 min of eating, it “stays” in the body for longer. The typical duration of the effectiveness is 6-8 hours, so many people (especially those who use it for anxiety and pain management) microdose, or divide up your dosage and use it throughout the day.
Bioavailability, Methods & Kick in times
On pregnancy & breastfeeding

Many women use CBD supplements during this important time in their lives due to a variety of reasons including:

  • Anxiety
  • Cramping
  • High stress
  • Hormone-induced acne
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Insomnia
  • Migraines
  • Mood disorders
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Sciatica

There is no comprehensive (US) research studying the effects of CBD on the developing fetus, pregnant mother, or breastfed baby. Because of the lack of long-term research funding for pregnancy, there likely won’t be any full approvals through the FDA anytime soon (like most supplements).

Early research & anecdotal evidence shows no adverse effects to mother or baby (unlike many other medications prescribed during pregnancy & postpartum). The common consensus amongst the medical community is use with caution, stick to an isolate based product & keep your dr. informed. Topicals are also safe as long as they don’t have any other ingredients contraindicated as they don’t typically enter the bloodstream.

Fun Fact! Did you know that when a baby nurses and gets “milk drunk”, it is because of the endocannabinoids (the cannabinoids that everyone’s body naturally produces) get passed on from momma to the baby causing a boost in serotonin and strengthening the immune system of the developing newborn?

CBD & Kids

Parents are reaching for the CBD for their kids more now than ever to avoid the long term side effects of many medications. Isolate Based CBD products are safe for children. The caution lies in medication interactions and the “filler” ingredients for all forms of CBD products, including topicals.

Luckily, Herb ‘N Oil tinctures are made with both taste and safety in mind! There are no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives used. They are gluten-free and vegan. When a sweetener is used, it is a very small amount of organic stevia.

The amount a child should take internally will depend on the condition and severity of it. Some of the popular reasons that children and teens use CBD is for:

  • Acne
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Autoimmune Diseases
  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
  • Depression
  • Digestive Health
  • Insomnia
  • PTSD
  • Seizures
  • Stress
